This Girl Turned Lemons (I Mean, Bee Stings) Into Lemonade!!

Today is LEMONADE DAY!!

To celebrate, I wanted to share a great lemonade success story with you.

It’s about 11-year-old Mikaila Ulmer of Austin, Texas.

A few years ago, she started making lemonade from a special flaxseed recipe found in her Great Granny Helen’s 1940s cookbook. It’s sweetened with the honey from local bees.

Mikaila started making her “BeeSweet Lemonade” (now called Me & the Bees Lemonade) after she got stung by a bee (TWICE!) and wanted to learn more about them.

Now she’s on a mission to SAVE them.

She writes, “I didn’t enjoy the bee stings at all. They scared me. But then something strange happened. I became fascinated with bees. I learned all about what they do for me and our ecosystem. So then I thought, what if I make something that helps honeybees and uses my Great Granny Helen’s recipe?”
