Today is Sesame Street Day!!

On this day in 1969, Children’s Television Workshop and Jim Henson debuted the great kids’ tv show, Sesame Street!

Since it’s also Throwback Thursday, I’ve picked out some vintage segments to share from this classic children’s program, including the super-funky “Pinball Number Count”!!

Did you know THE Pointer Sisters sang vocals on that one?! It’s true!

Jeff Hale, the man who animated “Pinball Number Count,” operated Imagination Inc., an animation studio in San Francisco. He was also behind Sesame Street‘s “Typewriter” segments, like this one:

AND the “Ringmaster” ones, like this:

Remember when Smokey Robinson wrestled with the letter “U” while he sang “U Really Got A Hold On Me”?? Watch it, it’s a hoot!


And when Little Richard performed “Rubber Duckie”?!

One time on Sesame Street, Bobby McFerrin beatboxed the entire “Alphabet song”!
