There&#8217;s an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/visit\/tate-britain\/display\/christmas-tree-2016\">UPSIDE-DOWN Christmas tree<\/a> hanging from the ceiling at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/visit\/tate-britain\/display\/christmas-tree-2016\">Tate Britain<\/a> in London! It has gilded roots!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/visit\/tate-britain\/display\/christmas-tree-2016\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"935\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15677\" src=\"https:\/\/peewee.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tate-Museum-Christmas-Tree.jpg\" alt=\"tate-museum-christmas-tree\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peewee.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tate-Museum-Christmas-Tree.jpg 640w, https:\/\/peewee.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Tate-Museum-Christmas-Tree-438x640.jpg 438w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>\n<p><strong>Iranian artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shirazehhoushiary.com\/\">Shirazeh Houshiary<\/a>\u00a0created this upended ornament-free tree specifically for the Tate, reimagining\u00a0a nearly-identical one\u00a0she made for the art gallery in 1993.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s designed to be viewed from three different floors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The artist said, &#8220;<span id=\"ext-gen95\">I would like us to contemplate that the pine tree is one of the oldest\u00a0species and recognise the roots are the source of its continued stability, nourishment and longevity. \u00a0<\/span>As the roots\u00a0remain hidden, it is best to seek what is hidden rather than what is apparent. As a Buddhist monk wrote, &#8216;An old\u00a0pine tree preaches wisdom.'&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Want an upside-down Christmas tree for yourself?
