Today, after trying and failing year after year, I finally won the U.S. National Yoyo Contest 2017!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What does it take to be this good?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Well first, start early&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-17944\" src=\"https:\/\/peewee.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/evan-nagao-tonight-show-.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>\n<p><strong>That&#8217;s Evan, at 5 years old, on <em>The Tonight Show with Jay Leno<\/em> in 2001.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He started yo-yoing at age 1 and by age 3, had graduated to tricks where he would wield a yo-yo in each hand, Nagao said. His talent led to TV appearances on \u201cThe Tonight Show with Jay Leno,\u201d \u201cRipley\u2019s Believe it or Not,\u201d and \u201cAmerica\u2019s Most Talented Kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nagao then took a six-year break to \u201cjust be a kid\u201d before picking up the activity again in 2009 while on a family vacation in Los Angeles.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Yo-yos were the family business! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/asian-america\/honolulu-yo-yo-pro-evan-nagao-sets-sight-world-championship-n791216\">Evan&#8217;s dad marketed them<\/a>, so there were plenty around to pick up and play!
