{"id":19179,"date":"2018-02-26T08:20:28","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T16:20:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peewee.com\/?p=19179"},"modified":"2018-02-26T08:27:40","modified_gmt":"2018-02-26T16:27:40","slug":"extremely-rare-yellow-cardinal-spotted-at-a-backyard-feeder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peewee.com\/2018\/02\/26\/extremely-rare-yellow-cardinal-spotted-at-a-backyard-feeder\/","title":{"rendered":"Extremely rare YELLOW cardinal spotted at a backyard feeder!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class='flex-video widescreen'><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rare yellow cardinal spotted in Alabama\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AHUbIV8qsSs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Described as a &#8220;one in a million&#8221; find, a male yellow-pigmented Northern cardinal was spotted at a backyard feeder!!<\/p>\n<p>Charlie Stephenson of Alabaster, Alabama, an experienced birder, found the rare bird hanging out in her feeder late last month and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2018\/02\/one_in_a_million_yellow_cardinal.html\">didn&#8217;t know what it was<\/a> at first, &#8220;I thought &#8216;well there&#8217;s a bird I&#8217;ve never seen before.&#8217; Then I realized it was a cardinal, and it was a yellow cardinal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Geoffrey Hill, a  biology professor at Auburn University, believes that the bird &#8220;carries a genetic mutation that causes what would normally be brilliant red feathers to be bright yellow instead,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/index.ssf\/2018\/02\/one_in_a_million_yellow_cardinal.html\">according to an <em>AL.com<\/em> article<\/a>.
