HBO<\/a>\u00a0is no stranger to shining a light on some of Hollywood\u2019s most fascinating people, and it is now setting its sights on spotlighting the person who helped create one of the world\u2019s more beloved characters. Sources tell Deadline that HBO Documentary Films is in production on a two-part documentary about the life of\u00a0Paul Reubens<\/a>, the man behind\u00a0Pee-wee Herman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A co-production between HBO Documentary Films and Elara, the film will be produced by\u00a0Uncut Gems\u00a0<\/em>directors Josh and\u00a0Benny Safdie<\/a>, their partner Sebastian Bear-McClard as well as\u00a0Joker\u00a0<\/em>producer Emma Tillinger Koskoff. Matt Wolf is directing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been working with HBO since they were called Home Box Office,\u201d said Reubens. \u201cI\u2019m honored and excited to continue my long history there. I love HBO, but I\u2019m not going to marry them.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
