LOOK! A RAINBOW and LIGHTNING in one photo! This is not ‘shopped!
For seven years now, Arizona-born Greg McCown of Saguaro Pictures has attempted to capture both a rainbow and lightning in a singular photograph. On August 9th, he finally succeeded catching the two together in his home town of Tucson!
Here’s the amazing shot, which he calls “Lucky Strike,”

On Weather.com, McCown talks about how he was able to finally get this dream shot with his DSLR camera, “In order to time that with the lightning would be next to impossible or extremely lucky. Our reaction times to see lightning and hit the trigger in time to catch it just are not fast enough.
So I used a lightning trigger — this is a small device that sits on top of the camera, senses the lightning and fires the trigger. It still doesn’t catch every shot and tends to shoot at nothing at times, but it does make photographing lightning during the day much more possible.”
