Wait, what mid-century-era “mad men” dreamed up this crazy ad campaign??? None! Turns out it was a WOMAN! A copywriter at Weintraub ad agency, Mary Filius, came up with the idea in 1949 of putting women in Maidenform bras dreaming about doing all kinds of things: working, shopping, bullfighting, being a JIGSAW PUZZLE, you-name-it! The campaign was so popular that it went on for 21 years! If you’ve never seen the “I dreamed I {X} in my Maidenform bra” campaign from the forties, fifties AND sixties, you’re in for a TREAT! YES, THEY’RE REAL!!
TAKE A LOOK (only ONE of these is FAKE)!!
YOU MADE IT TO THE BOTTOM! These aren’t the only ones, there were more! I’ll let you go discover them on your own!! But, before you go, here is the FAKE one, it’s a parody created by MAD Magazine!! It’s perfect!
