Conceptualized by the King of the Kustom Cars, George Barris, maker of The Batmobile and The Munstermobile, and Dick Dean, the vehicle resembles a Vox Phantom guitar in silhouette. It has a Vox Super Continental organ mounted in the rear. It cost $30,000 to build in 1968 and is well-stocked with vintage Vox Beatle equipment.

The hidden speakers and special chrome steps allow for three guitarists and an organist to play from the car– and it’s equipped with a Muntz 8-track player.

The Voxmobile is powered by an original 289 Cobra engine (used in early AC Cobras) and is reportedly able to reach 175MPH.

Asking price, $175,000

The Voxmobile appeared in the psychsploitation classic Psych-Out.  The film features an early Jack Nicholson performance.

These colors will well combine with your suit, Pee-wee!

Hm…maybe I should paint this one red? 🙂

Could be built now with superior gear for half the price AND include wifi, subwoofer, wireless mics, midi and IPad control, electronic drum kit, fog machine, lasers and LED stage lighting package. Probably goose up MPG a few notches too.

Pee-Wee, I owned the car! Wish you would have called me! Kevin
