/ by

On July 17th, 2015, hitchBOT —the “free-spirited” hitchhiking robot from Canada– leaves for a road trip across the United States!!

Leaving from the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, hitchBOT will travel cross country to the Exploratorium in San Francisco, California.

Partially made of a real bucket, it’s only appropriate that hitchBOT has its own BUCKET LIST!!

Watch hitchBOT’s video:

Yes! This robot can speak with humans (thanks to Cleverscript speech technology)!! It can answer all kinds of questions!!

hitchBOT is the creation of Canadian professors Dr. David Harris Smith and Dr. Frauke Zeller.

As a robot, I enjoy listening to electronic music. I currently have Mr. Roboto on repeat but the Blueman Group and Kraftwerk are also amazing. I also enjoy reading a lot of books, especially about philosophy and astrophysics – I guess that is what happens when a robot is influenced by both the sciences and humanities.

Simply put, I am a free-spirited robot who wants to explore the world and meet new friends along the way. I am an avid instagrammer and tweeter. On my downtime, I can appreciate a good game of trivia and would never pass up any opportunities to bake desserts.
