NASA developed a fragrance that smells like OUTER SPACE and now you can buy bottles of it!!

/ by

NASA astronauts have described space as smelling like a “mix of gunpowder, seared steak, raspberries and rum.” And now that fragrance has been bottled up as “Eau de Space” and is being sold in a crowd-funding campaign for $15 a pop so you can smell OUT of THIS WORLD!!

Decades ago, NASA contracted specialists to developed the “smell of space” to help train astronauts before launch into orbit. NASA’s goal of simulating Space during training is to eliminate any surprises Astronauts might experience in Outer Space. Practice makes perfect, and it is Rocket Science. The Smell of Space has been locked behind “Need to Know”, Astronaut only field training, and Red Tape for years. Through shear determination, grit, a lot of luck, and a couple of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, we got it out.

It’s no “Eau de Pee-wee,” of course. But then again, WHAT IS?!!

The head note is gunpowder, the heart notes are seared steak and raspberries, the base note is rum. Or vice versa?… This is dizzying (cosmic!) in every sense! Thanks for sharing, Pee-wee!
